After a successful renovation, a nearby community hospital was anxious to get landscaping done to finish the improvements.
Because the building is angular, it was all about the curves for Dana, the project designer.
Time and again, curves were repeated: in the circular patio greeting patients driving up...
...in the plant bed lines...
...in entrance walks.
By employing this repetition throughout the design, a softness and interest was created.
Staff members get more well-rounded sitting in the break area.
Around the side, the lot opens up and we got to take advantage of something most healthcare facilities don't have: SPACE.
This transitional slope is so big, the Owner can have both grassy expanses AND a gazebo!
Couldn't resist taking a rustic (literally) photo of Little Bluestem complementing oxidizing balusters on a side staircase.
Ready for the back half of the property? Flashback to original state of the area.
And here's what the turnaround and parking lot looks like now.
Little Mischief Shrub Roses & Blue Heaven Little Bluestem provide a pop of color and cheerfulness.
Consistent to the end, it's about the graceful lines for the back of the hosptial too. Creative bed lines really make this landscape special.
