Here's a sharp-looking post-secondary school building. We knew it deserved an equally sharp, hard-working landscape.
The first impression as you walk up to the front entrance is tidy yet welcoming.
Quick focus on this simple solution to let grounds crew get back to hose hook-ups, etc: Chilton flagstone steppers.
Continuing around the corner, The Blues Little Bluestem flank the front door. Looking across the front you can see the way the colors tie in with the building and each other.
Again, the landscape is tidy but the flowing bed lines create a warm welcome, giving students one less reason to skip class.
Extra credit for this nice plant combination: The burgundy foliage of the Royal Burgundy Barberry pick up the red accents in The Blues Little Bluestem.
Another nice combination in the pairing of the feathery Technito Arborvitae foliage and the airy Little Bluestem plumes; this places emphasis on the classy entrance glass.
Here Blue Beech fall foliage livens up an outdoor study/ picnic area.
Yet another plant combination to make things interesting: Golden Sword Yucca and Tiger Eyes Sumac steal the show, while the burgundies of the barberry and grass play a supporting role.
Those Tiger Eyes Sumac definitely make the grade...wherever they are on campus, they light up the whole area; here they contrast well with the Dwarf Globe Blue Spruce and Gro-Low Sumac across the walk. It's a nice way to finish up the landscape.
